Here is an excellent insect entombed in amber. This is a fine True Midge (Chironomidae) from the Eocene amber deposits of Russia. The piece of amber has been highly polished on all sides for optimal display. The insect exhibits very fine detail - the head, body, wings, and long legs are all present - even the large eyes are intact. The fly is beautifully showcased in the clear, honey-colored piece of fossilized tree resin. This is a great specimen of a True Midge in fossil ''ooze'' (large close-up photo is included for free).
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
