This is a rare amber fossil. It is a Black Scavenger Fly preserved in Dominican Amber. This specimen is extremely collectible in that the Black Scavenger Fly is laying eggs! This is a very rare occurence in the fossil record. There are many, MANY eggs just deposited by the female Scavenger Fly. They are easily seen at the tail end of the Fly. The fly itself has fine detail preserved. This is a very unusual and collectible amber fossil that tells a unique story (small close-up photos is included for free).
