Cool Biting Midge in Amber - Possible DNA

Name:   Biting Midge (Ceratopogonidae)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Amber Deposits
Location:  Baltic Coast, Russia
Size:  Amber piece is 0.75 inches long
Price:  SOLD

This is a very fine blood-sucking insect in amber. It is a nice Biting Midge (Ceratopogonidae) from the Baltic Coast of Russia. Because it is a Biting Midge, it may have traces of blood in its stomach. This blood could contain the DNA of extinct animals (remember Jurassic Park?). Therefore, this is a very collectible insect in amber. The midge has great detail and was trapped in a beautiful pose. And the bug is very easily seen in the amber piece. This is an excellent example of a ''Vampire Midge''.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
