This is a rare amber fossil. It is a True Midge preserved in Dominican Amber. This specimen is extremely collectible in that the True Midge is laying eggs! This is a very rare occurence in the fossil record. There are THREE intact eggs just deposited by the female True Midge. The eggs are easily seen at the tail end if the Midge. The Midge itself has fine detail. This is a very unusual amber fossil that tells a unique story.
